These educational opportunities are being listed as a courtesy and are not endorsed or sponsored by AFP Oklahoma.

There is some exciting new programming that AFP is offering from the International Headquarters.  Through surveys, task force research and other feedback that we have received, one of the primary items that chapters have asked the international association to concentrate on is delivering educational content to the advanced level professional.

To that end, the Professional Advancement Department, under the leadership of its Vice President, Rhonda Starr and Vice Chair, Andrea McManus, is developing a series of educational events. These events will be of great interest to the more senior members in the profession.

The 2008 Nonprofit Management Institute
September 23-24, 2008

The third annual Nonprofit Management Institute, sponsored by AFP and the Stanford Social Innovation Review and featuring new content, speakers and presentations, will be held Sept. 23 and 24 at the Frances C. Arrillaga Alumni Center on the campus of Stanford University.

The institute will cover such topics as developing nonprofit strategy, creating strong nonprofit brands, pursuing capital markets for nonprofit funding, improving nonprofit management and leadership and sharpening negotiation skills. Sessions will not only explore larger strategic issues, but also provide participants with practical ideas and innovations that they can put to use immediately in their own organizations.

Visit the AFP/Stanford SSIR site for information and a look at last year's program.

The Supply and Demand of Philanthropy in the 21st Century-Strategies for Fundraising and Financial Professionals
October 7-8, 2008

The Center on Wealth and Philanthropy at Boston College and the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) are pleased to offer a conference at Boston College on October 7 and 8, 2008, specially designed for wealth advisers, estate planners, fundraising professionals, directors of planned giving, vice presidents of development, and CEOs and board members of nonprofit organizations.

This conference will explore the new dynamics of philanthropy—the idea that donors desire, rather than resist, greater charitable involvement, and that philanthropy is becoming a large part of people’s “financial morality.” By understanding the implications of these new dynamics, fundraisers and financial professionals can implement new strategies that will make their counsel more fulfilling for their clients and more rewarding for themselves.
